Steven Paul Smith (6 août 1969, Omaha - 21 octobre 2003, Los Angeles), plus connu sous le nom de Elliott Smith, est un auteur-compositeur-interprète américain.

Après avoir joué dans le groupe Heatmiser pendant plusieurs années, il entame une carrière solo en 1994. Il est révélé au grand public grâce à sa chanson Miss Misery écrite pour le film Good Will Hunting, et nommée en 1998 aux Oscars dans la catégorie « Meilleure chanson originale ».

Elliott Smith meurt en 2003, à l'âge de 34 ans, des suites de deux coups de couteau portés à la poitrine. Bien que la thèse du suicide ait été largement avancée, les circonstances de sa mort demeurent encore imprécises.
